I sent a text to the owners when we were on our way out to dinner and they text me back within an ours to say they had replaced the gas and all in working order again - fantastic. We had one issue with the Gas running out for the boiler. Having 2 boys it was useful to have the kitchen and a great washing machine. The apartment was cleaned regularly and linen replaced 3 times during our stay. I wuld recommend you use the Spar or the Large Monoprix at Cascabelle for your bigger food shops as they are fixed prices. There are loads of supermarkets and restaurants nearby but if you walk about 10 monutes it you willbe in the busier centre of Flic en Flac where you can find everything you need. There is secure parking and the apartment is lovely situated at the end of Flic en Flac beach which is only a few monutes walk away. I would always recommend a car to explore Mauritius but you do not need to have a car at this apartment. The apartment includes airport transfer which would be a great help if you haven't' been to Mauritiu before. I travelled with my Husband and 2 boys aged 4 and 7. We really recommend this beautiful apartment as well as Flic-en-Flac! At all time we found that the people, tourist and locals alike, behaved them selves extremely well and that even during the rush time Flic-en-Flac was well maintained and clean! The time over Christmas was not to busy, but if we have to warn about something it would be that it was very busy for the week after new years (Which might be attractive to some). With various close by activities, shopping centers and other villages we sincerely enjoyed our stay as well as exploring. The restaurants are great and we can say that we enjoyed several different one's and found the general food quality, service and people great. The setting of Flic En Flac provide a beautiful long beach, with options to be surrounded with people or to enjoy a quite swim if preferred. Furthermore we felt very secure in the complex and the cleaning services were performed without any impact on our holiday! The apartment was beautiful and well maintained and our host was exceptionally helpful, accommodating and hospitable! The apartment is truly located a quite setting, just a few minutes walk from the beach and the swimming pool in the complex add great relieve when a quick cool down is required. The apartment is probably more suited to younger people who don't have mobility problems. Also it seemed strange that there were only 4 old cups in the kitchen (4 people, 4 cups, I suppose, but it could have been embarrassing on the day 3 Mauritian relatives visited). The owner dealt with this when he was informed. It was also irritating to find a shortage of towels (mentioned in an earlier review) and coat hangers. It is located quite close to ZUB, a top restaurant with excellent food and service including a take away service. Not a real problem however as there is a fairly regular bus service and plenty of taxis. a "really big balcony" with "beautiful views of the mountains" and " it takes around 15 minutes to walk into the main area of Flic-en-Flac" 30 minutes would be more accurate. We selected this apartment for our holiday mainly on the basis of positive reviews but there are a few review statements which are a bit misleading e.g. Unfortunately it is located in the car park and therefore not conducive to relaxing by the poolside. The swimming pool is good, well maintained and regularly cleaned (as is the apartment as a whole). The apartment is located on the second floor above the car park. The ground floor is in fact a car park which you have to go through to get to the apartment (having first unlocked and locked the car park gate). Prior to booking, having read that it is not suitable for elderly access, it was important to know that the apartment was on the first floor which would have been relatively easy for access but on arrival we found it necessary to climb a total of 37 steps to get to the apartment. Our party consisted of 3 elderly persons and a younger man - 3 of whom have close family connections in Mauritius. We were told that the apartment is on the first floor. It had a fan as did the main living area. In one of the bedrooms the air conditioning did not work for the duration of our 4 week stay. It is more than "2 mins walk from the seaside". It is not located in the heart of Flic-en-Flac but at the end furthest away from the centre. There are a few misleading statements in the blurb describing this apartment.
